ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The Senior Systems Administrator’s primary responsibilities are to take on leadership role on the Support Services team that focuses on mentoring teammates and helping them to learn and grow professionally while providing high-level support to Safety Net clients.  This newly created position was designed for someone who is unquestionably qualified to perform high-level Windows Administration, mid-level network systems maintenance, infrastructure management, and most importantly, to work with colleagues to fine-tune their troubleshooting methodology and encourage them to tackle challenges head-on with excellent client service always a top priority. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Queue

  • Accept escalations from LI – LII technicians
    • Find, research, and remedy “root cause” issues
  • Remotely assist clients with support needs
  • Clearly communicate status on tickets
  • Meet or exceed SLA guarantees to Safety Net clients
  • Clearly document all tasks
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction
  • Provide overflow assistance to other levels as needed
  • Participate in team on-call rotation, handling urgent after-hours tickets

Teamwork

  • Provide mentorship to all support team members, guiding them through technical solutions
  • Provide group training sessions to all support team members
  • Assist department leaders to develop and implement individual team member training plans
  • Provide leadership within small team; lead coordination of team daily activity

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five years of Windows Administration experience
  • Minimum two years Network Administration
  • Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Microsoft, Cisco, and/or CompTIA certifications are desired, but not required, with applicable work experience and/or college coursework
  • Firm understanding of Windows systems administration:
    • Knowledge of Active Directory
    • User and group management
    • Ability to describe in basic detail applications of Group Policy
    • NTFS permission management
  • Firm understanding of networking principles:
    • Client Server networking
  • Firm knowledge of wireless security and wireless client configuration
  • Understanding of network firewalling/security technology:
    • NAT
    • Port mapping
    • Access-lists
  • Firm knowledge of server maintenance tasks:
    • Backup software monitoring and troubleshooting
    • Disk defragmentation
    • Event log review
    • Hardware monitoring tool review
  • Corporate antivirus software experience
  • Spyware removal
  • Strong troubleshooting fundamentals
    • Ability to break problems down and use a logical process of elimination
  • Firm understanding of server and desktop hardware:
    • Ability to diagnose hardware problems
    • Understanding of different RAID levels
    • Familiarity with server and desktop hardware diagnostic tools
    • Familiarity with the use of Putty/SSH
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions to accomplish more complex tasks.  Example: Small Business Server initial configuration
