ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The Windows Administrator’s primary responsibilities are to provide high-level support to Safety Net clients, and to lead and mentor junior technicians in providing reactive services.  This critical team member is qualified to perform high-level Windows Administration, mid-level network systems maintenance, infrastructure management, and they'd adept at troubleshooting.  The individual in this role will provide awesome training and mentorship to junior colleagues. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Services

  • Accept escalations from the Level 1 and 2 teams
  • Remotely assist clients 
  • Clearly communicate status on tickets
  • Exceed SLA guarantees to Safety Net clients
  • Clearly document all tasks
  • Assist Deployment Engineers with deployment projects
  • Maintain high client satisfaction
  • Participate in team on-call rotation, handling emergency after-hours issues
  • Provide occasional overflow assistance to Level 1 and 2 support queue
  • Troubleshoot backup issues

Teamwork 

  • Act as a mentor to other Support Services Group members
  • Provide leadership within small team; lead huddles and coordinate team daily activity

Windows Server Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Exchange Server policies, troubleshooting, and resource configuration
  • Domain Controller
  • DHCP server
  • Software installation and configuration
  • SAN/NAS adminstration
  • VMWare/Hyper V Administration

Backup Administration

  • File restoration

Malware Prevention

  • Troubleshoot virus protection systems
  • Troubleshoot web content filtering systems
  • Troubleshoot spam filtering systems

Security Incident Response

  • Remediation as directed by assigned security engineer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two years of Windows Administration experience
  • Minimum one year Network Administrator experience 
  • Two or four-year degree or equivalent work experience
  • Microsoft, Cisco, and/or CompTIA certifications are desired, but not required, with applicable work experience and/or college coursework
  • Firm understanding of Windows Systems Administration
    • Knowledge of Active Directory
    • User and group management
    • Ability to describe in basic detail applications of Group Policy
    • NTFS permission management
  • Firm understanding of networking principles
  • Technical Knowledge/Experience
    • Knowledge of CAT5 wiring
    • Firm knowledge of wireless security and wireless client configuration
    • Knowledge of Active Directory
    • Understanding of network firewalling/security technology
    • Firm knowledge of server maintenance tasks
    • Experience managing antivirus software and removing malware
    • Troubleshooting fundamentals
    • Firm understanding of server and desktop hardware, including familiarity with use of Putty/SSH
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions to accomplish more complex tasks.  Example: Small Business Server initial configuration
